Kylie is a PhD student at the Sociology Department supervised by Professor Karen Joe-Laidler. Having obtained a BA in History (HKU), an MA in Literary and Cultural Studies (HKU) and an MPhil in Gender Studies (Cambridge), Kylie takes her multi-disciplinary feminist research philosophy to the next level through in-depth investigation into gendered body cultivation and body politics in her hometown Hong Kong, exploring assumptions amongst academic areas such as gender norms, exercising, body perception, and personal politics.
Her research has potential implications on understanding the interaction between body politics and exercising in young people in Hong Kong, thereby giving a critical voice to her target population and improving their wellbeing.
